The company has been awarded the responsibility to develop, operate and maintain the Khidderpore Dock-I (West) terminal in Kolkata under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model – the first-ever PPP initiative under Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPK), formerly known as Kolkata Port Trust.
As the first private player to step into this kind of port operations, Century Ports is committed to redefining maritime logistics through best-in-class infrastructure, technology integration and customer-centric services.
Historically, Kolkata Port played a vital role in shaping trade routes with the Southeast Asian region. With this new venture, Century Ports aims to revive that legacy and reaffirm Kolkata’s standing as the “Gateway to the East.”
The terminal is strategically located — just 12 km from NH-6 and within close proximity to major Container Freight Stations like Sonai and JJP, both under 3 km away. Designed to handle both containerized and bulk cargo, the facility prioritizes speed, safety and transparency in its operations.
